A filler is a student that graduated from one of our classes. They help us balance numbers by coming in weekly to that class.

A helper is someone who is a volunteer and has been trained by us. They are in the class not only to help us bounce numbers but more importantly, they’re giving advice to students. This takes training and a different set of responsibilities. 🙂

We always ask our fillers to not give advice to the students, because definitely there is an art to helping people. We work hard to train our Helpers to be great at speaking and communicating ideas and helping find our students easy ways to feel successful.

A filler is someone who fills in that spot where we need an extra leader and a follower. The benefit there is the filler gets a free class.

Yes, a free class! What we do is we email one of our students who’s already graduated to offer them a free class. You probably received an email from us and that’s why you’re asking it.

Now, if you want to be a volunteer or a ‘Helper’, then email us. You can get in touch with us and we’ll meet with you, we’ll talk and we’ll kind of paint you the picture of the responsibilities of a Helper. A helper should be there before the class. You’re there for two to three hours, not just one class. You’re walking around, helping support the culture and help support the environment. There’s a lot of responsibilities.

So, a filler is a student who just fills in to help us balance numbers while a Helper has a ton of responsibilities that we train to make sure that they really represent our culture.

Thank you so much for watching. If you have a question that you want me to answer in a later video, please leave it in the comments below. And again, if you’re looking to join our school, then visit our website at torontodancesalsa.ca and sign up.
