You just need to send us an email with the song that you want to play and the date that you want to pick. The one thing that makes it a fun birthday dance is if you are already in some way, a regular at our social. It makes it way more fun for others to jump in on the dance with you. 🙂
Now the reason for that is the way that birthday dance work is you have a person in the middle of the room and then there’s a whole large group of people running, walking around, clapping, cheering for this person whose birthday it is. So if people know you, if they see you come out regularly to socials, there are a lot more people that are willing to jump in to make it an amazing experience.
If you are brand new, even new to the country and you want to just celebrate your birthday on the dance floor. Absolutely yes, just email us.
Now here are a couple of things to keep in mind as you do a birthday dance. We do the birthday dance about an hour and a half into our social. Our socials are about three to four hours. The reason for that is we want to make sure that it’s really busy at its peak so a lot of people can get involved.
If someone else does already have a birthday dance that they want to do. So let’s say on Sunday someone reaches out to us that he or she wants to do a birthday dance. We are happy to do two birthday dances at the same time. The only thing is whoever was the first one to request a song, we will play that song. So the reality is if we do two separate birthday dances a lot of people will start to sit and just get bored. So we will only pick one song for the birthday dance. You also have to decide if you want to do Salsa or Bachata.
Now the other thing is if you want to pick up a song, we will shorten it to about two to two and a half minutes. This just keeps the social engaged and energetic. If one person is dancing for about four minutes and everyone else is just sitting and watching, they will kind of get bored. So just expect that if you pick a Salsa song that has six or seven minutes, we will shorten it to about two or two and a half minutes. This is to make it fun, engaging and we get a chance to dance with you and celebrate!
So, all you need to do is just email us your song, the date that you want to do it. Expect that it will happen about an hour to an hour and a half into the social. Just come in and have fun. Bring that energy and we’ll take care of the rest.
