Let’s figure out if group lessons are best for you.

The short answer is, no, we don’t do refunds if you come in just to try one class. 🙂 We work super hard to make sure our numbers are balanced in our class. Also, our classes sell out very quickly. So we want to reserve our spots for people who are ready to commit to a fun, energetic, and meaningful experience when they take our dance classes. If someone signs up just to try one class, it takes the opportunity away from someone wanting to commit to the semester.

But I do want to clear it up. Here are some reasons why taking group classes might not be the right fit for you:

One would be if you have dance experience in other dances and you’re gonna pick up the moves quickly, maybe you just don’t have the patience to learn with other students. So instead, just doing a private lesson to pick up the skills at a quicker pace is a better option.

When we take a group class we go at a good steady pace where nobody gets left behind with someone who has a ton of dance experience. If you don’t want to be patient to dance with people who are learning just like you and you want to just dance with an instructor and learn super quick, then private lessons are the right way to go.

Second, maybe your schedule is complicated. So, if you do things like shift work and your schedule changes a lot. It’s hard to predict and be able to book off seven or nine Mondays, nine weekends or four weekends, whatever the length of the classes. It’s definitely going to be hard for you to take one class, miss a bunch and fall behind.

Besides those two options I really believe our classes are right for everybody. We focus on having fun, feeling like you’re part of a tribe, and helping you feel like you #belong. You will feel like you’re enough and you feel like you’re accepted. You get to learn to move and you get to feel sexy in your body. There’s a lot that comes from it, a lot of beautiful things.

So, I’d be surprised if anyone takes a class and after one class they’re like, “this is not for me”. I mean, the only other thing I could think of is if you feel extremely uncomfortable. Maybe making contact with other people, holding hands can be uncomfortable for some people. So, if you feel really anxious and nervous and you’re like, “I don’t know how I’m going to handle it”, then I think the best thing to do is email your instructor or call us and talk to us.

Let us have a conversation. Let us figure out what your goals are, so we can set you up for success. And yes, I’ve had students who’ve called us/emailed us and I have advised them not to take group classes, but find an alternative. I want everyone to feel like they #belong. I know that we’re going to have a great time at our school.
