Why Bachata?

I love dancing, teaching and listening to Salsa music. Yet, when I look at a style of music and dance that makes me feel like I am on vacation, it’s Bachata. It has helped me feel more confident in my body, be more expressive and how to slow down when I feel overwhelmed.

Here are 3 reasons why BACHATA is the best dance to start with.

It’s a Vacation

When you dance Bachata, it’s like you are on a beach. Unlike Salsa (where you feel like you’re in a race car) Bachata gives the vibe that you are on vacation. There is no work tomorrow, just sand, an ocean, and good company. Put on a song by Prince Royce and you can’t help but wish you had a Sangria in your hand.

Two left feet welcome

Even if you have two left feet, you can learn to dance it. Yes, I said it and you should believe it. The beats are even, it’s just 3 steps and a tap. So for any new dancer who feels nervous, starting in Bachata, is your quickest and best bet to feel confident. This is why in Salsa Nightclub Level 1 (before we teach Salsa) we teach 1-hour introductory class to Bachata. To give our students quick and easy wins.

You learn to slow down

I never knew how tense my body was until I started to dance Bachata. In Salsa, moves come fast and if you miss something, it’s hard to catch up at the beginning. Why Bachata? Because, it teaches you to breathe, not rush to the next move. You can do a whole Bachata song with just basic steps and basic turns. In Salsa, to have fun, you have to learn a lot more than the basics. So that heavy bass music, forced me to breathe more, flow more and slow down more.

I can’t wait to welcome you to our big family, have you coming in week to week, having fun, connecting with new friends and letting loose to amazing Latin songs. Click here to check our current schedule.
