Salsa Toronto

We are blessed to be living in Toronto. Toronto is the best city in Canada for Salsa dancing. Toronto has numerous dance schools, parties, Latin Clubs, and outings where you can experience Salsa. You can dance Salsa every night of the week in this city. So, I want to guide you on what you should look for, whether you are a brand-new dancer or have just moved to Toronto.

Latin Club Nights

Drinks and food are served and part of the entertainment is dancing. They will play Salsa, Bachata, Reggaeton, Merengue, and other mixes. Latin Club Nights are fun. Brand new dancers will go to these places, drink a little bit of liquid courage and dance. If you want a fun night out in Toronto while Salsa dancing with some friends, definitely google Latin Club Nights in Toronto. But if you are looking to make a real connection with the dancing community, the place to go is a Salsa club, a Bachata club or a dance school outing.

Salsa and Bachata Clubs

In Toronto, many nightclubs, including El Rancho and Lula Lounge, have dedicated Salsa, Bachata and even Kizomba nights. Usually, these are on Thursday or Friday nights. These are great places because you’ll find a wide variety of dancers. Though it does get a little overwhelmingly packed sometimes, dedicated Salsa and Bachata Clubs are part of the reason Toronto is the best city in Canada for Salsa.

Dance School Socials

A friendly alternative to clubs is Dance School Socials. Most don’t serve alcohol as they are not licensed. This is an ideal setting for a brand-new dancer. There are often instructors at the socials and they are happy to dance with you and make suggestions to help you improve your dancing.

At the school I run, Toronto Dance Salsa, we currently have three socials per month on Saturdays. One is a Salsa Social, one is a Bachata Social and one is a mix called Salsa loves Bachata. It is a great environment and we have anywhere from 120-200 people. New and experienced dancers, instructors and students all dance together and support each other. Check out the Parties and Socials link on our website for upcoming dates.

Classes

One of the reasons that Toronto has such a great Salsa scene is because there are tonnes of schools. Toronto has many schools teaching Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and more. Each school is unique and there are schools for different flavours and different people.

I have detailed posts about Selecting Salsa Classes and Selecting Bachata Classes but here is some general advice. Choose a school that is safe, accessible and convenient for you whether that means it is close to home or work. Many people have trouble deciding whether to start with Bachata or Salsa. They offer different experiences. Bachata is mellow and like being on a beach holiday with friends. Salsa is like driving on the Autobahn – fast and exhilarating.

Finally, select a school where you will have fun. Dancing is about having fun, not nailing every step. Celebrate your wins and your continued growth as a dancer.

I have travelled to different places in Canada and around the world, and in most of them, I have found great places to dance Salsa and Bachata. Still, I love and am grateful that Toronto has the largest Latin Dance Community in Canada. That’s why the Canada Salsa Congress is held in Toronto each year. And I am blessed to be the director of the largest Salsa school in Canada. So if you like Salsa, Toronto is the place you want to be. Toronto is the best city in Canada for Salsa! I’m hoping that I get a chance to dance with you, teach you, and flow with you. I can’t wait to see you on the dance floor.

I can’t wait to welcome you to our big family, have you come in every week, have fun, socialize, and let loose to amazing Latin songs. Click here for our current schedule.
