Hey, gang, it’s your friendly neighborhood Director of Toronto Dance Salsa.

I’ve had the great pleasure of witnessing, many couples fall in love in my classes all over again. It’s such a beautiful sight to see a couple come together, excitedly and just start to move and work and have fun together again.

Whether you are in a brand new relationship or have been together for a while, it’s a great way to spice things up.

Salsa dancing is amazing for couples because it’s a way to commit to each other on a week-to-week basis, and make it a date night.

Let’s be honest and admit that everyone these days is super busy and distracted. Everyone is on their phones even while having a meal together or watching TV and not really talking.

Dancing forces people into a room, no distractions to re-connect again. Once a week, no phone, no tv, no work or commitments to anyone but each other.

It’s beautiful and I constantly see couples leave with big smiles on their faces at the end of class.

Salsa dancing for couples is also great because you pick up a skill that you can do together anywhere in the world. You can find a Latin club in almost any country in the world…honestly I would be surprised if you were to tell me a county that doesn’t have Salsa dancing.

From Russia to Italy to Greece, to China, to Korea, to the Philippines…the list goes on and this isn’t a geography class. 😉 So you can take my word for it, it’s a skill that pays off for any couple.

Dancing is also great because it’s a way to learn to be a better communicator with your partner.

We can all forget how important communication is, verbal and nonverbal.

In salsa dancing, there is a leader and there’s a follower, there’s a person who leads the movements and the follower is is the one who receives the instructions and follows through.

One of the things I’ve seen that’s been amazing is couples’ communication gets stronger as they progress through the classes.

A leader needs to not only tell a partner what to do but be gentle, attentive, and a follower is like a great listener. A follower needs to be very present, to see, feel the cues.

Communication only gets better as you practice and Salsa dancing is a great way for couples’ communication to get better.

Look I can go on and on about all the benefits. 🙂

Not only does a couple get the benefit really just from committing to a date night (quality time) once a week in a world where everyone is so busy and nobody’s making time for their partner, communication gets better, they learn a skill they can use everywhere…but it’s just also an easy way to add fun into the relationship.

Salsa is fun, it’s energetic, it’s active, it’s sexy and playful.

There’s a lot more that I could say about it but It’s a great gift to give to yourself and to your partner.

So, YES, take salsa dancing as a couple. 🙂
