That’s so awesome that you already have some experience and you want to grow with us!
We’re going to make sure that you know exactly where you can fit in to feel like you’re being challenged as a dancer, but not overwhelmed.
In our school, we do assessments where you meet one of the instructors for a minute or two and they’ll dance with you to figure out your level. We’re not looking for perfection. We just want to see what your experience is like. So whether you have a little bit of experience or a ton of experience, there’s a place for you here.
Now, how do you schedule assessments?
They’re for free, so you don’t have to make it rain($$$) to do an assessment. Just email us at [email protected] and we set up a time that works for you, and an instructor to meet at the studio. They’ll turn on some music or maybe they’ll just count you in, and dance with you.
Every level that we teach focuses on core concepts. In Salsa for example, Level 1, we do basic turns, cross body leads, Level 2 we focus on smoothness. Level 3 we focus on double turns, etc. At each level, we say these are the important things for you to graduate from a beginner, beginner-intermediate, intermediate, intermediate-advanced, performance level, all that kind of stuff.
We know that at every level there’s a critical aspect that every dancer should know, and that’s what we’re really assessing. We’re not assessing perfection, we’re looking for these core concepts that will make you a successful dancer in the next level.
When we find that you are somewhere between level one and level two, or between level two and level three. We’ll offer you suggestions, which could be anything from doing one private class and you can skip this level and go to the next level. Or you can take this level, some parts you won’t be as challenged and other parts you will be challenged. Then it really comes down to you feeling what’s right for you.
We work really hard to make an awesome experience for everybody. And we realize that if you’re taking a class that’s too easy or too hard, it’s not an awesome experience for you and anybody you dance with.
