Why is Salsa Dancing Important
Reason #1: Energy.
I always tell my students to try turning on some Salsa music and taking a nap. It would be almost impossible because Salsa is energy.
You can’t help but hear Salsa music and have your foot tap on the ground. Salsa automatically infuses every inch of your body with that fun and sexy, energetic rhythm. Every time I teach a Salsa class, students smile, laugh, and giggle.
You have people exhausted from work coming in in the evening to take a dance class, and as soon as that music goes on, they just become a different person.
Reason #2: Salsa is everywhere.
Salsa is literally in every part of the world. You can travel from Timbuktu to Singapore and find at least one place you can go Salsa dancing.
If you are in Toronto, you are very fortunate because every night of the week, there is a Salsa nightclub outing you can visit and have fun. Salsa is very popular, and you will have a wide variety of opportunities to dance, which I love.
You don’t have to speak the language because when you know how to dance Salsa, your body will speak the language.
Reason #3: Salsa is a good kind of challenge.
Salsa is a very unique flow and rhythm, which is quick, quick, slow and it takes some time before you get to an advanced level, which is a good thing. I believe that fun comes from learning, growing, and stretching yourself just out of your comfort zone. You feel you’re growing but not overwhelmed.
Therefore taking your first class of Salsa is your gateway from beginner, to intermediate dancer to advance level and even getting into performing. There are so many things you can do, including participating in competitions and Salsa workshops. There is no cap for growth because there’s always that next stage in Salsa.
Reason #4: Salsa is just so much fun!!.
I am going to repeat… Salsa is fun. There’s nothing as fun as spending four minutes with your dance partner laughing, giggling, being goofy and bonding with your partner and your Salsa community. Just for that, to give yourself the opportunity to connect and have a fun moment, you should start taking Salsa dance classes.
