Where to dance Salsa
These days the obvious answer is to Google it, but that’s not going to help much. First, you want to have the insider’s opinion.
Toronto is one the best places to take classes and go social dancing in all of Canada.
If you are already a convinced dancer, maybe visiting the city or interested in getting more dance opportunities. We’re here to help!
Here are the three places where you can Dance Salsa tonight.
Option #1: Your local dance school.
I know it’s obvious, but many people don’t do the research. So look up the nearest dance school to you, and giving them a call should be the first thing to do on your list.
Call and ask if you can go for a dance lesson.
Some schools will do drop-ins, while others tend to have a curriculum-based system. Having a curriculum means you set it up at the beginning of a term, and once a week, you attend classes.
Becoming part of a school is good even if you already have some background in dancing. Part of the joy of dancing is belonging to a community.
At a dance school, you will polish your moves, and after a couple of classes, your presence is expected and welcomed by your new family.
Also, reach out to your local dance schools to know if they run parties you can join. Maybe there is one tonight. They are called Socials.
Option #2: Salsa socials or parties.
If you Google Salsa party or social, you will find several options. Event promoters or dance schools often run these events.
Our School hosts socials on Saturdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. They are open to the public, and everyone is welcome regardless they are beginners or advanced dancers.
There are also socials / parties organized by event promoters. They tend to be big events where you’ll see a lot of regular dancers coming out to have fun and connect.
If you already have experience, going to these events will be a blast because you can dance with a different types of dancers.
There is an opportunity to dance Salsa, Bachata and even other styles like Merengue and Kizomba.
These events are not always friendly for beginners. Even the lessons are often tailored for people who already know at least the basics of Salsa.
That said, if you go with a group of friends, it’s a super fun event to attend and experience.
Option #3: Three Latin clubs.
Latin clubs are another place where you can dance Salsa.
They are usually restaurants or clubs that will turn their dance floor into a Latin dance floor once or twice a week. You’ll often find people are very varied in their skill levels in these places.
Also, they won’t just play Salsa. They’ll often play reggaeton and many other styles to attract a larger audience.
These events won’t always attract the widest variety of advanced dancers, but it is a fun night to go out if you’re visiting a city for a couple of days.
With Latin clubs, people tend to be much more dressed, so bring your “A” game.
