El Rancho Salsa Club is one of the oldest and most well known salsa venues in Toronto. Located at the corner of College Street and Bathurst Street, El Rancho welcomes salsa dancers of all ages and levels on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. On long weekends El Rancho will usually open up on Sunday evening also to accommodate the large volume of salsa dancers looking to take advantage of their time off.
El Rancho Salsa Club has two levels. The top level is the main level and is marginally larger then the lower level. There is booth seating areas and two bars as well as a rectangular dance floor. The lower level also has a bar that is central in the room and has additional booth and table seating around the dance floor. Each floor plays different music from different DJs which is very convenient for those looking to dance to a certain genre of song.
In addition to the usual Salsa, Merengue and Bachata that is played at most salsa clubs, El Rancho Salsa Club also plays some Reggaeton around midnight. The styles of salsa that are played are very high energy and geared towards on 1 dancers as opposed to Mambo on 2.
El Rancho Salsa Club also offers a full dinner menu with great Latin entrees and Tapas. Prices are very reasonable and favourites such as Churrasco, Empanaditas and Paella are on the menu. They offer special Dinner and Dancing packages at only $25 per person that include a two course meal with appetizer, entrée and coffee or tea as well as entrance to the club.
Many regulars salsa dance weekly at El Rancho Salsa Club and have been doing so for years. There are also those who are new to the scene who practice and learn from the regulars. The floors are great for spinning and there is plenty of convenient parking around the area.
