SALSA TORONTO THE BEST CITY IN CANADA TO GET YOUR SALSA!

Gang, if you are looking for Salsa in Toronto, you will find a large offer of dance schools, parties, Latin clubs, and school outings. You can dance Salsa every night of the week in this city. So, I want to guide you on what you should look for, whether you are a brand new dancer or just new to the town.

There are many different kinds of socials, but we can put them into general categories.

Latin club nights.

They serve drinks and food and part of the entertainment is dancing. They will play Salsa and Bachata and Reggaeton, Meringue, and other mixes. These places are good for fun.

Brand new dancers will go to these places, drink a little bit of liquid courage, which is alcohol and dance, but if you are looking to make a real connection with the dancing community, the place to go is a Salsa club, a Bachata club or to have a dance school outing.

Salsa and Bachata Clubs.

In Toronto, many nightclubs, including El Rancho or Lula Lounge, have nights, typically Thursdays or  Fridays, dedicated strictly to Salsa, Bachata and even Kizomba. These are great places because you’ll find a wide variety of dancers, though it does get a little overwhelmingly packed sometimes.

Dance School Socials

A friendly alternative to clubs is having a school outing called socials. Usually, no alcohol is served in these places, and people just come out in a friendly, warm, and safe environment ideal for a brand new dancer. I’d always encourage you to go to school outings because there’s more support. In addition, some instructors are happy to dance with you and make suggestions to help you improve your dancing.

For example, in our school before COVID, we used to do socials three times a week where our students would come out and dance. My team of instructors would be mingling, making sure nobody was sitting around and feeling uncomfortable. We don’t serve any alcohol, and we strive to offer a fun and respectful environment.

For an extended period, we had to stop our socials. However, we are back with our Saturday party called “Salsa loves Bachata”, and our last social had almost two hundred people in attendance, yes 200!!  Our beautiful dance studio was full of love and joy, and the energy was remarkable. New dancers, experienced dancers, instructors and students were all there, and we had a great time.  If you click this Facebook link https://www.facebook.com/Toronto-Dance-Salsa-64125613109/

Classes

Toronto has many schools teaching Salsa, and there are schools for different flavours and different people. So here is some general advice. First, when picking a school, choose a school close to you, whether it’s our school or any school. Choose a convenient location, accessible and safe. Second, If you’re a brand new dance student trying to choose between Salsa and Bachata, Honestly, both are beautiful. I always describe Salsa as driving on a highway going fast. Things are whizzing by you, and with  Bachata, you slow down. It’s like being on a beach.

Third, but most importantly, select a school where you will have fun. Dancing is about having fun, not only nailing every step. It’s crucial to achieve growth. I believe that every little step should be celebrated, and you should feel good about yourself.

I have traveled to different places in Canada and around the world, and in most of them, I’ve found great places to dance Salsa and Bachata. Still, I love and am grateful that Toronto has the largest Latin community of all of the cities I’ve been to in Canada. Therefore, we can have events such as the Canada Salsa Congress being held in Toronto.  So if you like Salsa, Toronto is the place you want to be, and I’m hoping that I get a chance to dance with you, teach you, and flow with you. So see you on the dance floor.

I can’t wait to welcome you to our big family, have you coming in, week to week, having fun, connecting with new friends, and letting loose to amazing Latin songs. Click here to check our current schedule.
