Unfortunately, the answer is no.
The reason that our group classes are so reasonably priced is because it makes it with the instructors time. So, if we have 20, 30 or 40 students then with one instructor for an hour, that makes sense.
Our private lessons are $80 per hour a you pay directly to the instructor. Because of that, when you agree with an instructor to come in for a private lesson, you’re asking them to commit at their own time to do the traveling, book the studio and all that work. It costs a little bit more than a group lesson.
We want to make sure that you are never get left behind though…
One tip is, if you know you’re going to miss a class, even a few classes, please email us ahead of time. We do our best to offer substitute classes. For example, if you’re in a Monday level two class, we try to find you a time on a Tuesday or a Sunday (or any day we have available) where you’re going to catch up on what you missed in the Monday classes. The earlier we know, the better it is.
Now, the reality is let’s say you sign up for a nine week session and you know ahead of time that you’re going to miss three or four classes. I’d say definitely then either wait a semester out before you sign up and when your schedule is a little more free sign up for that day or pick a different day. 🙂
We know that there are some things that happened that are unpredictable. You might get seriously sick or you might injure yourself. We are always here to help, so please email us. We’re super understanding. We know that bad things or inconvenient things will happen on either Tuesday or Wednesday. So even though we have to say no for the private lessons, we offer as much help as we can.
Worst case scenario, if we can’t offer help with a substitute class, the alternative sometimes we do is we invite you to our Saturday Salsa and Bachata parties. Depending on what you’re taking, we still do drop-in lessons for 10 bucks. And so we say, you come in, pick up a few moves and do some social dancing. At least you don’t get left behind and you’re still picking up new skills and that’s the most important part for us. We want to make sure we offer you as many options as possible.
